A noodle box has won the 2008 Mascot Gold Cup. The charity race which took place at Whetherby Race Course last Sunday raised over 15000 pounds.
The event hosted by Sue Ryder Care along with the generousity of Yorkshire Young Farmers Association encourages Mascots all over the UK to participate wiht the aim of raising money for patients at the Sue Ryder Care Institute. Among the competitors were Leeds Rhinos, Ronnie the Rhino and Leeds United Lucas the Cup Cat. But it was Megumi Noodle Box who wiggled first to the finish line. The man in the noodle box himself and manager of Leeds Wokon Noodle Bar was ver proud of his achievement.
In an exclusive interview with Sunshine News reporter Vicky Khadoo he said "I had it in the bag from the start, all my friends came on the day and they all put money on me,I ate a lot of noodles and kept fit. I was very fast an I won so it was a brilliant day for me" The Mascot Gold Cup has raised over 31000 pounds since 2006 and has definitely paved the way for creative yet effective methods of fundraising.
